Travel Note

Travel by car

We start our car hire searches on kayak.com Driving in Italy has a bad rep but the motorways are much quieter than in the UK. However the cities and towns can be pretty hectic. Speed cameras are waist high and hidden on the side of the roads, use waze/google maps to get an alert when they are coming up! Tolls roads will give you a paper ticket, you must keep this on you to pay at the other end. Petrol stations are all different, some have pump attendees, some don't. The service stations on motorways are great and all serve very decent coffee and cake. The venue is accessible by a dirt track, if google maps is taking you there and it looks as if you're heading into the middle of nowhere up in the Tuscan hills, you're probably in the right place. We haven't got a taxi from Siena to the venue previously, but it looks as if Uber operate a pretty good service from there. If you're struggling, potentially try walking up to Siena train station.
