Montauk Point Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in New York State, and is the fourth-oldest active lighthouse in the United States. A small museum leads to 137 stairs up to the top of the tower where visitors can view the Atlantic Ocean from the most eastern point on Long Island.
If you're coming into town early, enjoy a day at Robert Moses Beach! There is a $10 parking fee. Food and beverages are available for purchase on site, but you can also bring a cooler if you prefer. The bridge that leads to the beach offers an amazing view of the Great South Bay.
If you'll be in town for a few extra days, take the Long Island Railroad into the city! You can take a Lyft, Uber, or taxi to either the Central Islip or Ronkonkoma train station, and it's only about 1 hour and 15 minute ride to Penn Station ( 34th st. bwtn 7-8th ave) in NYC.
