Question

Where should I park?

Answer

There is a very small lot in front of the garden on North Davidson St. Please do not park there, as this is for the staff and wedding party. The designated, free parking lot is located around behind the garden and will be clearly marked. If you can, please carpool as this lot is limited to approximately 50 cars.

Question

What food options will be provided?

Answer

The cocktail hour immediately following the reception will serve light bites and drinks. Dinner will be provided after the cocktail hour, with a buffet featuring meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Please let us know on your invitation if you have special dietary needs, and these will be clearly marked on the buffet.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Literally anything you want that is legal in public. Please be advised that the garden is 90% outdoor, and consider this when selecting your shoes. May in Charlotte is generally perfect weather, and we plan to have firepits and heaters available in the evening if needed, but please consider bringing layers.

Question

What type of bar selection will you have?

Answer

We will be providing an open beer and wine bar, featuring some of our local favorites! Please, please, do not bring in outside alcohol or consume it on or near the property - our venue is very strict about this and will likely have to ask you to leave.

Question

What is the weather like in Charlotte in May?

Answer

May is a beautiful time of year here. Typically humidity is lower than later summer. In previous years, the typical high has been 80 and low was 57. Please bring appropriate layers, and know that we have cover options in case of rain.

Question

What else should we do when we're visiting?

Answer

We are SO EXCITED you're coming to our favorite city! Please check out the page on our website dedicated to our recommendations for visitors. This includes everything from hikes to breweries to cheese shops. If you have a specific idea, please ask us for a recommendation!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

While we love you and I'm sure we would love whomever you wanted to bring, please know that our venue is small and we have a strict capacity limit. If your invitation says "and guest," please feel free to bring one. If not, please know how much we would love to host your guest, but that we just don't have the space.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception in the same place?

Answer

Yes! The entire event will be held at the McGill Rose Garden, with the address listed on your invitation and this website too.

Question

Is there an after party?

Answer

Nothing official, but at 11:00 PM when we have to vacate the garden, we would love to have you join us for an end-of-night drink somewhere TBD.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

Please head up into the garden for a cocktail hour! The bridal party will be taking pictures for a bit, and may need to ask small family groups to step in for a few pictures. We will join you for dinner shortly after.

Question

Are kids allowed?

Answer

Yes! Your RSVP will include the names of young children invited. We will need to know if kids are attending to factor in a kid's meal with the caterer.

Question

Is your wedding accessible?

Answer

Yes! The building has wheelchair ramps and the majority of the garden is flat with grass or chips. However, it is an actual garden, so the ground is not paved. Please wear appropriate shoes and let us know if there are any special accommodations you will need in advance.

Question

Can I take/post pictures and/or video at the reception?

Answer

Of course! We'd love if you tag us so we can see (we do not have a specific hashtag). We would like to request that you do not take pictures or video during the ceremony. We have paid a wonderful photographer and videographer to do that work for you, so please just feel free to relax and enjoy the ceremony. Kindly silence or turn off your phones.

Question

How does Uber Events work?

Answer

We will provide a voucher code for Uber rides on our invitations, and also available at the event. This will entitle you to $20 off a ride to and from the venue, anytime between 4 PM and midnight. When you open the Uber app, you will click the payment link at the bottom (where it lists your card on file if you have used Uber before). This will open the Payment Options section. At the bottom, click the "Add voucher code" link, and enter the code provided. We pay for each ride individually, so please be mindful of the amount of rides you use, and consider carpooling with others going the same direction. Please, please do not drink and drive.
