Beth and Peter were on the rowing team together at Purdue University, but didn’t ever cross paths freshman year. It wasn’t until the spring trip to San Diego their sophomore year that things really began to come together. Finding themselves in a rental minivan with Dark Horse by Katy Perry on blast, a close friendship ensued which extended into the summer. Admittedly off and on that summer and into the fall, they then began to date seriously throughout the rest of college and continued a long distance relationship after graduation as Peter moved around the country for work.
Peter planned the event to occur during their annual New Years vacation ski trip, which took place in Park City, Utah this past year. Enlisting the help of a local photographer, he scouted the surrounding area to find the idyllic background. Landing on the locally famous McPolin Barn, and with the assistance of close friends Caleb and Lauren, a fictitious snow-shoe excursion was planned to take them past the desired spot. As they approached the barn and crossed a bridge spanning a half-frozen stream, Peter got on one knee and asked Beth to marry him (of course she said yes!)
