Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art
Open Thursday through Sunday from 12-5 the Wadworth Atheneum is a lovely way to view some art while you are in Connecticut! Opened July 31, 1844, it is the first public art museum in the United States. Enjoy the largest collection of Hudson River School Paintings and an impressive array of Pilgrim-era furnishings as well as European and American Art!
The Mark Twain House & Museum
Open for tours every day from 10am, and only 5 minutes from St. Thomas, the Mark Twain House is a perfect way to spend Saturday morning! Built in the American High Gothic style, the Mark Twain House is part steamboat, part medieval fortress and part cuckoo clock. Reservations are recommended for tours.
Greater Middletown Military Museum
Open weekdays 10-3 and Saturday 10-2, The Greater Middletown Military Museum is an interesting way to spend some time in town! Established to honor and remember the many American military veterans who served to defend their country from Colonial times to the present day. The museum preserves a large collection of donated artifacts related to all branches of the military, including uniforms, medals, documents, letters, photographs and weapons.
