Open Thursday through Sunday from 12-5 the Wadworth Atheneum is a lovely way to view some art while you are in Connecticut! Opened July 31, 1844, it is the first public art museum in the United States. Built in the American High Gothic style, the Mark Twain House is part steamboat, part medieval fortress and part cuckoo clock. Reservations are recommended for tours.
Open weekdays 10-3 and Saturday 10-2, The Greater Middletown Military Museum is an interesting way to spend some time in town! Established to honor and remember the many American military veterans who served to defend their country from Colonial times to the present day. The museum preserves a large collection of donated artifacts related to all branches of the military, including uniforms, medals, documents, letters, photographs and weapons.
