How We Met

Jordan had just moved up to North Dakota to start school at the University of Mary to pursue a degree in Theology. He went to a bonfire where he met Cesar, a friend of Beth's. Cesar, within minutes, knew that he should set Jordan and Beth up. Cesar showed Jordan pictures of Beth. Jordan said, "Oh my gosh, she's beautiful, I would love to meet her." Jordan proceeded to friend her on Facebook. Cesar, playing matchmaker, had been texting Beth the entire time saying, "He's going to message you later tonight. He's going to message you later tonight." Beth, being as impatient as she was, had to wait THREE days before getting a text from nervous Jordan. He finally messaged her on Facebook. They started talking and the messages kept getting longer and longer. It came to the point where they had to start calling. At the end of the first phone conversation, he stated, "So do you want to do this tomorrow?" Beth immediately responded with, "How bold of you! Absolutely!" Weeks went on where phone calls turned into FaceTiming, and eventually Jordan decided he needed to come to Fargo to meet Beth. He came up for a weekend and they went to Doolittle's for dinner, followed by a trip to Walmart to buy muffin mix for a brunch Beth was co-hosting the next day. That weekend, they also went for a walk and played in the leaves at their favorite spot, Lindenwood Park, and went to mass together and drove around, looking at nice houses. The rest is history.

The Proposal

7.2.23

Jordan was planning to propose to Beth on June 30 at Lindenwood Park where they had started to develop deep feelings for one another, but Beth had other plans. She wanted to visit her friend, Madison, in Wyoming over the 4th of July who had been doing her summer placement for Occupational Therapy graduate school. This changed Jordan's plans, but probably for the better. Jordan and Beth picked up Madison's husband, Joshua, in Bismarck and drove all the way to Lander, Wyoming. On that Sunday, Jordan had planned to propose at a spot that Madison had scouted out weeks before this trip. The four of them (Jordan/Beth, Joshua/Madison) had been hiking on the hottest day of their trip, were sweaty, and Jordan had a migraine. At each mile mark, Joshua and Madison had checked in with Jordan to see if he was ready to propose. Joshua had the ring in his backpack and he was going to play a song on his speaker. At every mile marker, Joshua and Madison looked at Jordan for the queue, but he was sweaty and had a migraine, so they kept going and going and going. They eventually hiked five miles and crossed two streams. This was not the right time. They decided to go back to their AirBnB to rest, take some medication, and get some food. After dinner, they decided to go back up to the location they were at that afternoon to look at the sunset. Joshua and Jordan had walked ahead and Beth and Madison walked a ways behind. Little did Beth know Jordan was about to propose. Joshua was trying to calm Jordan down because he was starting to cry and he was very nervous! Beth and Madison were having a normal "Beth-Madison talk" about how Jordan had changed Beth's life in their time of dating. Joshua and Jordan were trying to cut this conversation short as the sun was setting. They said that Jordan and Beth needed to take a picture. When Beth got to Jordan, she started to turn to Joshua to take the photo, but Jordan grabbed her hands (ring box in his right hand). Beth felt the ring box and immediately was overcome with feelings of shock. He got down on one knee and she nodded yes as she couldn't verbally say anything in the moment.
