The Farm is one of our favorite places! Beth's great (x4) grandfather bought the land in 1869 as a 320 acre wheat farm. It became a dairy farm in the 1890s, and Beth's family lived and worked there for over 100 years. In the 1990s it was sold outside the family, and the original house was burned down. In 2003, Beth's grandparents were driving by and saw a for sale sign. They bought 60 acres of the original farm, and it became a place for family gatherings, gardening, and conservation work. Beth's parents built a house on The Farm and moved there in 2010. We are so excited to be having our wedding in such a special place!
We wanted to add some information to our website around the traditions we are including in our day. At the end of the ceremony, Dylan will break a glass as part of a Jewish tradition symbolizing that a marriage is not about material goods, but about two people being together and committed to each other. During our reception, we will all do a traditional Jewish dance called the Hora. The Hora symbolizes joy, unity, and a couple's elevation to a new chapter in their lives. If you aren't familiar with the Hora, we recommend watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN6A3uBLhKQ We will also be having lefse, a thin Norwegian flat bread, with dinner and Beth's Grandma's famous Christmas cookies for dessert- some of Beth's favorite family traditions!
Please RSVP through the "RSVP" page on our website by June 1st, 2026!
