Witty Sense of Humor Gone Wrong

Summer of 2016

Beth and Cole met out on the lake one beautiful summer day. Cole was riding his jetski and Beth was with some friends on a boat. Unfortuntely, Beth had been shoved off the boat by a friend. Upset at this fact, Cole saw his opportunity to be a gentleman for the girl he found attractive. He rode his "water scooter" all the way to his car, fetched a dry towel, and rode back to the boat Beth was on and attempted to pass her the towel as he was riding by. Beth missed, thus resulting in Cole's witty sense of humor to tease "Nice Catch". Beth, unamused, saw the opportunity to show her ability to match the energy and threw her Twisted Tea can at his chest as he was circling back around the boat; teasing back "Nice Catch". Cole, upset, circled back around the boat and soaked not just Beth but the entire boat and rode off into the sunset.

The Universe Guides

Spring 2017

Despite Beth and Cole's first encounter, the universe had them continue to cross paths a few more times on the lakes since that summer of 2016. One spring evening, Cole's jetski throttle cable snapped; leaving him stranded and finding rescue at the lake bar Beth was bartending at. Beth couldn't help but find wetsuit boy kinda cute. After some research, she managed to find him on Facebook after her shift and send him a friend request. Cole, only activating his Facebook page 3 days prior, accepted. Beth made the first move and dropped her digits into his DMs. It was Cole's turn and he eventually got Beth to accept a homemade pasta dinner at his house before he left for a trip to Italy. Upon his return from not only the trip but a sleepless weekend Jetski racing right after; Cole reached out in hopes to see Beth again. Beth was in the middle of setting up her new apartment, and extended the invitation for Pizza. As they continued to get to know one another, Beth discovered Cole's zodiac sign...Aquarius. Beth let Cole down easy, informing him that their compatibility was only that of 14%. Obviously, Beth and Cole have defied the odds of the 14% compatibility. Over the next 6 years, Beth and Cole would build a strong foundation for their love. Beth learned how to jetski and joined Cole racing competitively. When Covid put a pause on their racing; Beth and Cole took to the trails and rekindled a love for traveling, camping and hiking. They grew their family by another set of paws shortly after.

The Proposal

3.12.2023

On the morning of 3/12/2024, Beth and Cole rolled out of bed to hit the road early for NH. A 4 hour drive stood between them and hiking Mount Madison; a 4,000 footer on the Presidential Range on New Hampshire. Beth drove and Cole slept passenger princess the whole way there. Arriving and linking up with their adventure and hiking buddy Kayla, they began their 10 mile hike around 8am. 26 degrees at the base of the mountain and a blue bird day; the hike was incredibly challenging but beautiful. The Presidential are known for their unpredictable weather patterns and dangerousness, but today, was not your average day. There was not a cloud in the sky and the wind was minimal. Before the final push to the top, the group took a lunch break to refuel while they debated leaving their bags at the hut to cut down on weight and save time. Unsure if it was a good decision, Beth and Cole began ascending the final mile of Mount Madison. However, Beth decided to make the call a few hundred feet up and dropped her hiking back at a rock; as it was extremely challenging to ascend in the conditions of the trail. Cole, hesitant, hid his bag further than Beth and Kayla, and followed shortly behind. Eventually getting to the top, and feeling accomplished, Cole anxiously began encouraging Beth to interrupt Kayla for a photo opportunity. We had the summit to ourselves minus 1 other traveler and the views were endless. Beth, being as observant as she was, sensed something was up with Cole's unusual behavior. He had his hands in his pockets but his gloves hanged from his wrists (strange...). Finally, Kayla became available and Cole picked the spot of the photo. Kayla snapped away and gave the phone back to Beth; ready to trade places. Cole then began asking for a different angle, explaining the sun would be better. Both Kayla and Beth, looking at one another strangely, told Cole the phone autocorrects the lighting and the photos looked perfectly fine. Cole, persistent, asked for another round. (Beth knew something was up.) Kayla, began snapping a few more photos when Cole turned to Beth and asked "Want to know what would really make me feel on top of the world?", Beth smirking, replied "What?". Cole, proceeded to get down on one knee and popped the question.
