The Story of Us

Our Journey from the Deli to "I Do"

In the Fall of 2017, working behind the deli counter, a friendship started to bloom. Beth introduces herself to her new coworker, Justin and they soon become friends. They would converse about their job, share about their backgrounds, and crack jokes throughout their shifts. One night, they asked about plans for the evening. Beth was hanging out with friends and invited Justin to join. He accepted the invite, not knowing what God had in store for their lives. After a year of game nights, parties, and nights behind the deli counter in the summer of 2018, they drew closer together. They were cooking together, dancing together, and cracking even more jokes. They were able to see each other for who they really were. The walls built up throughout their lives began to lower, and they knew that what they had was more than a friendship. Within the first year, they met each other's families and in the second year, Beth had the opportunity to study abroad in Thailand. While Beth was studying overseas, Justin did all he could to see her. He bought a ticket and experienced both his first solo and international flight to visit her during Thanksgiving break. Then, the pandemic hit shortly after, and the two got through it together. In the third year, the couple wanted some extra cash, so they started to doordash on the side. That season was short-lived, but during one of their orders, Beth saw the banners of their future home church, Restoration City Church. Three months later, they went to a service, and the Lord started working rapidly in the couple's hearts. In the fourth year, they were more involved in church. Beth recommitted her life, and Justin gave his life to Jesus. They found a community, were baptized together, and experienced God’s faithfulness throughout their lives. In the fifth year, Justin’s perspective on marriage continued to develop. He saw healthy marriages for the first time, and his love for Beth grew tenfold as he grew in the Lord. He knew that he wanted to take their relationship further and finally commit. Now the question was... when? Justin waited for Beth to go on her trip to Israel and asked her parents for their blessing. Justin had a whole plan to save for the ring, but then heard the Lord, asking him, “What are you waiting for?” Immediately, Justin bought the ring on May 1st and began thinking how he could keep it a surprise. A month passed, and their Pastors invited the couple to join them on a trip to Tampa, which provided the perfect opportunity. As the day drew near, Justin became more nervous, thinking of what to say and how it would go. The night before the proposal, Pastor Naydita even got Beth to pick out her own flowers without her knowing. The following day, they all went to Hollis Garden in Lakeland and the pastors slipped away to let Justin and Beth have their time alone. Justin led Beth to a fountain with koi fish, and he proposed with a note he had written at the airport just a couple days before. Justin was so nervous, stumbling on his words, sweating, and rethinking why he decided to do this in the scorching Florida heat. After he finished his speech, on June 24, 2023, Justin bent down on one knee and asked Beth to marry him. Without hesitation, Beth said yes, and the couple celebrated and took photos around the garden. They ended the night off by cooking a meal together and playing Rummikub. The couple went to Florida dating and came back to Boston engaged.
