We really really love each other and wanted to be married. It's as simple as that. We got really bogged down in all of the things you "have" to have at a wedding and all of the "must do's" that are really only a product of the last couple of decades and lost sight of what mattered most to us! So we decided to scrap it all and just make the day exactly what we want of it!
We are doing a very casual beach wedding. It is not formally organized with fancy chairs or any of that. If you want somewhere to sit other than the ground, feel free to bring yourself a beach chair or towel or whatever strikes your fancy! We are planning on keeping the ceremony relatively short, however, so it should be doable for everyone to stand the whole time. This is not going to be a traditional ceremony with a processional and a unity candle and all that jazz. Just two people marrying each other in front of all of you (plus the seagulls)!
The reception will be a cake and punch affair to celebrate our marriage with our loved ones! The site is a short drive from where we are having the ceremony.
We are! We have a Zola registry here on our site, one with Crate and Barrel, and one at Target! You can find links on the "Registry" tab. PLEASE NOTE: because this site is hosted by Zola, they list all of their registry items on the page and put links to our other registries way down on the bottom of the page. The things we want and need are pretty evenly split across all three registries so don't feel like the things listed here are more important to us or anything. The Target registry as well as the Crate and Barrel registry are accessible in their stores as well as online.
Whatever makes you happy! We'll be wearing a dress and a suit, and the bridal party will be a little dressy, but you should feel no pressure to dress fancy if you don't want to. We would much rather you came in your paint covered jeans than not come at all because you didn't have anything to wear. That said, if you want an excuse to buy a new dress and get all dolled up, feel free! Keep in mind that it is the Oregon Coast so, though it is August, be prepared for potential wind and rain. We'll keep a close eye on the forecast and change plans as needed.
We wish we could have all the loved ones there, but in order to keep things simple, we are doing a child free wedding. We hope that you will be able to take a few hours off from your kiddos and celebrate with the adults, but if you can't make it because of that, we completely understand. When making the guest list, we only accounted for significant others we know personally just to keep things simple.
