Our story began over dinner at a bustling restaurant connected to the mall—an ordinary place for what turned out to be an unforgettable evening. Bill, not a huge fan of the menu (or restaurants in general, for that matter), ordered a burger and fries — and even let me have the pickle. Always a good sign. Over piña coladas, we chatted about crow intelligence and the plural form of octopus (it’s octopuses, by the way). We talked, we ate, we laughed, and before long it felt like time had completely slipped away. What we thought would be a simple dinner turned into a night full of easy conversation and unexpected connections. Regardless of his feelings about the menu, he still swears it was the best meal of his life.

On May 25, 2025—our eight year anniversary, Bill asked the easiest question I’ve ever answered. A few days earlier, we had been chatting about how to celebrate our upcoming anniversary and realized the date—5.25.2025—had a pretty nice ring to it (pun intended), so why not get engaged? Even though we had technically already decided on getting engaged, Bill still managed to surprise me. As we stepped out our front door for a quick walk with the dogs, he suddenly spun around as if he had forgot something in the house, dropped to one knee and asked casually “Oh, by the way- will you marry me?” With a ring in one hand and a puppy in the other, how could I possibly say no?

Love is meant to be shared, and we cannot imagine celebrating this moment without the incredible people who have supported us along the way.
