Miles and Lauren met in August 2022 while teaching 5th grade at Calusa Elementary. What started with conversations between classes quickly turned into a friendship built on peanut butter M&M’s, iced coffee exchanges, and playing pranks on each other between classes. Our first date was at a brewery listening to live music, where we shared a giant pretzel and laughed the entire night. From the beginning, being together felt easy and fun. Since then, we’ve grown through so many exciting seasons of life together. Lauren graduated with her master’s degree, Miles earned his bachelor’s degree, and we both now work for nonprofits serving our community. We also share our apartment with our two cats, Gaara and Professor Wilson, who make a living charging us a tax in belly rubs. Miles proposed during a trip to Salt Lake City while we were snowmobiling through the mountains. The views were stunning, the snow was glistening, and Lauren caused us to crash the snowmobile into the “fresh pow” a few dozen times. Somehow, Miles still decided forever sounded like a good idea. What started in a 5th grade classroom has turned into a relationship built on love, support, laughter, and always finding joy in the little things. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of the people we love most.
