Jenna and Cody’s story began at Champlain Valley Equipment (CVE) in St. Albans, Vermont, where they both worked full-time. Jenna had just graduated from graduate school and was recovering from her fourth knee surgery when she started as the Service Writer. Meanwhile, Cody had been working as an outside salesman for the construction side for about two years. The first time Jenna laid eyes on Cody, she thought to herself, “Wow, who is that? He’s got a huge a** for a guy.” Later that evening, she couldn't help but ask her dad who he was and how old he was. The Bessette household had a strict rule about never crossing lines with coworkers, but Jenna’s attraction to Cody made her a little devilish. She decided to find out more about him, a decision that would change everything. A few days later, Cody was curious about the new girl working in the service office, wearing a leg brace and calling the shots. When he walked into the boss’s office to ask about her, he happened to spot a photo on the desk that stopped him in his tracks. It was then he realized the new girl was the boss’s daughter! Trying to play it cool, Cody quickly rephrased his question to avoid showing too much interest. As the days went by, Jenna and Cody’s connection grew. Jenna began flirting with Cody, sharing hunting stories, discussing hobbies, and gradually opening up about their personal lives. Their conversations became longer and more playful, making it harder for both to focus on work. Jenna’s days seemed to drag on when Cody was on the road or working from home, but everything changed one fateful day when their professional paths crossed in a new way—they exchanged numbers when a service matter came up and Jenna’s dad needed them to both to help out. Little did Jenna’s dad know, he was unknowingly doing them a huge favor. On August 3, 2022, while working with her dad on their food plot, Jenna’s phone lit up with a message from “Cody Farrell.” A wave of excitement rushed through her, her heart skipped a beat, and a blush crept up her cheeks. From that moment on, Cody and Jenna began exchanging texts and communicating discreetly through social media. On August 5, 2022, they orchestrated a chance encounter at the Franklin County Field Days. Cody’s excuse for being there was to meet Bill Dean, a loyal customer, while Jenna was already planning to attend with her best friend Erica and other friends. After a few drinks and a little food, Cody turned to Jason and asked if it would be okay to take Jenna out to dinner. He wanted to do things the right way since they all worked together, and after all, Jason was the boss. On August 10, 2022, Cody officially asked Jenna out to dinner. He drove from East Montpelier to St. Albans and met her at Mimmos. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and by the end of the evening, they were already planning their second date. Two days later, on August 12, Cody took Jenna to Waterworks in Winooski, where they enjoyed a fancy dinner, a few bottles of wine, and lost track of time in deep conversation. It was there that they knew they had something special. From that night on, they haven’t willingly been apart for more than a few days. On August 29, 2022, Cody officially asked Jenna to be his girlfriend. Fast-forward to August 5, 2023, when they bought their first home together in Barre. Then, on February 8, 2025, Cody took things to the next level. On a beautiful Saturday morning, while on a sleigh ride, he got down on one knee and asked Jenna to marry him. But that wasn’t the only surprise. Cody had coordinated with both sides of the family and even brought her best friend from Maine to meet them at Idyletime in Stowe for a celebratory lunch and drinks. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and the beautiful start of two families coming together. Now, Jenna and Cody eagerly look forward to September 12, 2026, when they will officially become husband and wife.
