How we got here

We tried so hard not to date.

Picture it. Zionsville, Indiana; 2001. NFTY-OV/MV Summer Institute. Bess was a regional board member. Jeremy was voted Mr. NFTY (a title he is still proud of today). Neither remembers the other. Fast-forward to 2007. San Diego. Pre-URJ Biennial Symposium. Bess and Jeremy reunite in the affinity group for congregational youth directors. Lexie was there too. Bess and Jeremy remain unimpressed. Then, in 2009, the happy uncouple find themselves classmates and neighbors at HUC. Finally, a beautiful friendship blossoms in the presence of thousands of Jerusalem's feral felines. It is during this year that they travel together to Egypt, Greece, Ukraine, & Turkey. Despite taking Lonely Planet's advice to travel as a married couple in Arab countries, they do not date. From 2010 to 2014, they live in Los Angeles, California for the duration of rabbinical school. It goes kind of okay.* These years also hold significance because they took their first mileage run together January 9-11, 2013. Then in 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel decides to take matters into their own hands. Bess & Jeremy are placed on an MFA sponsored alumni trip with only 13 other colleagues. They haven't spoken in over two years. They see each other for the first time aboard Delta Air Lines ship #N863DA. Jeremy peers back through the forward curtain (pre-flight champagne in hand) and sees Bess. He knows he is screwed. By the end of the trip, Bess comes to the realization that Jeremy just may have been right all along. By the time they are enjoying the sunset from the SkyDeck at ATL Terminal F, they knew they'd be seeing each other again very soon. The next weekend Jeremy made the 200 mile trek from Jackson, MS to Memphis, TN and the rest, as they say, is history. *Sometime during these years Jeremy admits to having feelings for Bess. Bess (wrongly) thinks he is confused. This makes things complicated. So, yeah, it went kind of okay.

For all the days along the way
