Every great love story starts with a little twist of fate—and ours began at a lively Dallas bar just before the world changed. In February 2020, we met at Dot’s Hop House & Cocktail Courtyard in Deep Ellum, introduced through friends of friends. It was a fun night—good conversation, good vibe, just easy. Brian had driven down from Oklahoma City. Besa had recently moved to Dallas, chasing new beginnings and unknowingly heading straight toward the one that mattered most. Our first date wasn’t your typical dinner-and-a-movie. We met halfway—literally—at Winstar Casino on the Texas-Oklahoma border. Somewhere between roulette spins and shared laughs, something deeper began to grow. Long distance became our reality, but we embraced it. For the first year, we made it work between OKC and Dallas—calls, weekend visits, and a whole lot of windshield time. Then, one year into dating, Brian made a big move to Austin, bringing us a little closer. After two years apart, Besa moved to Austin too—first with a roommate, then a year later, the two of us moved in together. For the past two years, we’ve shared a home and built a life together. From quiet evenings to spontaneous road trips, we’ve found joy in the everyday.
