Matt and Kristen have known each other since middle school. Kristen's friends drew a heart around Matt's face in her 8th grade yearbook due to a big crush she had, and Matt would have conversations with his friend Jesse about who we liked on the soccer team... Matt's answer was Kristen. Fast forward about 11 years and you have Matt and Kristen hanging out together on multiple occasions due to mutual friends. One fateful night at the Life is Beautiful concert in Las Vegas, Matt would notice Kristen's Converse Allstars were untied. He would tie her shoes, look up at her, and realize he had found what he was looking for. Although Kristen was convinced Matt was using her for her family's LA Kings season tickets (still undetermined), they began texting on the regular and soon Matt began to drive/take the train to Irvine, where Kristen was living at the time, multiple times a week. Although it was at a much slower pace than Kristen wanted, AND one night she had to ask why he hadn't already, Matt would eventually ask Kristen to be his girlfriend. She said yes and their relationship took off from there.
Only a year into the relationship, Kristen got her dream job with Google and Matt took a leap and they moved to San Jose to live together for the first time. The transition was seamless and living together really allowed their love to blossom. Even though it wasn't their favorite place, their time in San Jose was extremely important: they got their dog Cooper, they bought a HUGE couch (that determined which apartment they could live in/which house they could purchase), and they made memories to last a lifetime. Despite all this, they knew they belonged back in SoCal. Kristen got a transfer and Matt was able to find a job in LA. Moving to LA and adjusting to new jobs during Covid was a new challenge they would take on together, and ultimately conquer. It was during this time in Marina del Rey that Matt would devise a scheme to propose to Kristen. Matt asked Kristen's parents for permission (they said yes and asked if he was sure... jokingly!), he created a plan with the help of friends, and even a map for how it was going to happen. At the end of it all, Kristen would say yes and he would place a ring on her finger.
After living in Marina del Rey for a year, they decided it was time to buy a house that would serve as the home for the future family they plan on having. With their deep rooted love and success in their respective careers, Matt and Kristen now live in their quaint Newbury Park home with their dog Cooper (the small family before the big family). They spend each and every day learning more about each other; like how Kristen spills coffee grounds all over the floor every morning and how Matt can't put away his yoga mat after a workout. Living together in their house has been the highlight of their relationship so far and they cannot wait to see what the future has in store. They cannot wait to celebrate their love with each and every one of you!
