Besties for the Resties

Cheesy, but Accurate

Austin and I were best friends in high school. We ran with the same group of people, had the same friends, and shared similar class schedules. I would cover the varsity football games for yearbook, and he would look out for me and make sure I did not get run over on the sidelines. Our friendship grew and we eventually went to our senior prom together, as friends. I always knew he had a little crush on me, but nothing ever came of it - if you knew Austin in high school, you know he had ZERO game. But, to be completely transparent, I had a slight crush on him as well. We kept up with each other throughout the years - updating each other on big moments, relationships, transfers, jobs, etc. We always made a point to see each other when we were on a school break. We never missed a summer at Razzoos or Fuzzy's. It wasn't until Austin came home from Tarleton one weekend that our friendship began to shift. He had started a job in Dallas and was commuting back and forth for classes. In this last half of his fall semester, we found ourselves constantly meeting up for lunches, dinners, snow cones, etc. and quickly fell into this routine of seeing each other. And just like that, we somehow made it to my family's Christmas introducing each other as boyfriend and girlfriend. It happened so organically that neither of us are able to pinpoint when we officially started dating. It will be nice to actually have an anniversary to celebrate!
