We're getting married!

We had known each other for a while, but really grew closer as friends when our mutual friends (Megan and Alex) got married. The two of us were both part of the wedding party and when the day came, we danced the night away. The magical part was that neither of us are much for dancing! Just before the sparkler send off, Nick asked me to coffee. Long story short I said yes. Then I said no. Then I said yes again. And THEN the rest is history!

On an ordinary Sunday evening, we thought we might change up our lazy Sunday routine and plan something fun. We decided to go back to the beach and have a mini picnic where we often liked to just barely catch the sunset (seriously we're almost always late to the sunset every time we plan on going). Very casually, we snacked, talked, and laughed just like any other date, but just before the sun finally set, Nick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Our official engagement was on 9.27.20, but our second, unofficial engagement took place the day after Christmas, on 12.26.20. Because of COVID-19, Nick's original timing and location to propose was up in the air like most things. As a Christmas present I took Nick to Selby Gardens to see the Christmas lights, where we visited back in December 2019. On our 2020 visit, we went to all the places I could remember taking pictures of the year prior, and when we had walked through to the end of the trail, we sat at a bench overlooking the pond-- my personal favorite place in the park. We sat in silence for a while until Nick asked to see my ring, then got down on one knee to propose at the original place, and original spot he had hoped.
