Not expecting to meet anyone in the middle of a pandemic, Robert and Bertha crossed paths in both El Centro and National City. Thinking that this was more than a simple coincidence, I messaged Robert to get to know him better. After a couple of weeks Robert took the next leap and invited me to meet in person, after some brainstorming we agreed on going on a walk. The 1 hour-ish meet became a 5 hour date and an ask for a second date. This became a daily habit of ours with each night making it harder and harder to say good bye. On August 14th, Robert surprised me with a promise ring and a promise to continue working on our relationship to make it grow into a long lasting one. Through some ups and downs of life our relationship grew stronger as we both experienced how we would support, challenge, encourage, and enjoy each others company. By October - November, Robert kept on telling everyone that in 2021 we would get married but I had not been asked yet. One Sunday evening, as we were walking through the mall waiting for our table at our favorite sushi restaurant we came across the engagement ring we had been looking for but were not aware we wanted. Right there and then Robert just asked me if it was the ring for me and purchased it. At dinner we then planned for an official proposal date (since I had to get my nails done and we had to wait for the ring). Knowing the proposal date did not ruin the surprise or diminish the excitement, it just made it more special for us as we were able to make it our own. Now as we plan our wedding we are excited to show our family and friends how much we care for each other and how excited we are to join our two families.
