Join us at the Glen- where you can travel back in time at a 1915 Plant Nursery as we say our vows alongside all of our loved ones.
I'd just gotten my drivers license, and my friend invited me to hang out after school to celebrate. Little did I know that she was setting me up on a date. She took me to an IKEA- I know, I know, a weird place to begin. But it was there that I saw him for the first time, wearing a cream colored pullover with roses patterned down the sleeves. He tried to make me laugh all through the store: hiding in tents in the childrens play section, pretending he lived in various kitchens and living rooms. He asked me out that night.
He picked me up at my dad's house, coming in to meet him. He took me to Dave 'n Busters- and it was the best first date I could have asked for. I beat him at Galaga, and he beat me at Pac man, and being with him felt like home.
We were at vacation in Asheville, North Carolina. Our last full day there, We did a self-guided driving tour of the surrounding water falls. He asked me questions throughout the day- what was the first movie we went to? What was the first place we went on a date to? He kept kneeling, tying his shoe or picking a rock up off the ground, faking me out and making me think that he was proposing. Finally, we reached our last waterfall, a place called Dry Falls. It's a place where you can walk underneath the waterfall, with stairs leading down and rocks surrounding the site. It was raining, just a little bit. Under the falls, he handed me his phone to take a video. When I turned around, he was on one knee, holding out a flower. "What was the first flower I got you?" He asked. The first flower had been a carnation, one that I'd dried and kept from when we got together. The red flower he was holding opened at the top to reveal the ring. I don't remember if I said words at all, but I do remember crying, as well as the fifty people applauding and cheering from the steps leading down towards us. We even got a photo.
