Simply put…AMAZING!! A must see if you plan to spend some time on the mainland. Stunning mountain views and abundant wildlife viewing throughout the park and with any luck you might also catch a glimpse of the highest peak in North America, Mt. Denali (formerly known as Mt. McKinley) at 20,310’. If you’re planning a trip to Denali National Park, please note the most common mode of transportation into the park is through the park bus system (no cars) which stops service for the season on Thursday, Sept 12, 2019 so consider visiting before the wedding. About 230 miles (4.5 hours) north of Anchorage.

Boats (a.k.a. Car Ferry) Car ferry (http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/) – for those looking for a road trip on water, consider using the Alaska Marine Highway and take a car ferry from Homer to/from Kodiak. After making your way to Homer (rental car, bus, hitchhike, or otherwise) purchase a ticket for the car ferry ($287 with car and/or $87/person), and then hit the open water and enjoy the views as you watch the ocean and various remote islands pass by on your 9-hour ferry ride to Kodiak. Please note the Alaska Marine Highway makes 2-3 trips to/from Kodiak and Homer per week, plan accordingly. A limited number of rooms are available on the car ferry for a reasonable rate, visit the website for more details.
Even if you don't stay the evening, stop by for dinner and a drink at the Crows Nest for amazing 360 degree views of Anchorage, Cook Inlet, and the Chugach Mountains.
