Our wedding will take place near Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Get your passport ready and download WhatsApp ahead of time—we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
We are planning a Welcome Party on Friday, January 8th at 5-7:30 PM at the Aloft Hotel rooftop. We would love to see you there if you're able to join us early! Please feel free to keep this in mind when booking your travel.
Formal invitations will be arriving in your mailboxes in Summer 2026. For those of you already booking your travel, our digital RSVP will open right here on this website very soon once we finalize a few more weekend details! Keep an eye out—you will receive a text message with a direct link to RSVP as soon as it's ready. We kindly ask for all final responses by November 1, 2026, so we can finalize our counts before the holiday season.
When you receive your formal invitation, it will specify the number of seats reserved in your honor. If you don't see a plus-one and would like to bring a guest, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We’ll do our absolute best to accommodate everyone, and the more heads-up we have, the better!
Yes! Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond our wedding date (July 2027 or later) to ensure a smooth entry into Mexico.
The closest major airport is Cancun International Airport (CUN).
Cancun International Airport (CUN) is approximately 45-60 minutes from Playa del Carmen. We recommend staying at the Aloft Hotel using our wedding block. Please contact MDM Transfer at +52 984-176-7867 on WhatsApp for transport. To reserve a ride from the airport, please message them at least one week ahead with: your name, number of passengers, arrival date, flight details, and any special requests like baby seats. When you arrive at the airport and exit the terminal, look for a driver holding a sign that says "Cecilia and Jake Tomkinson Wedding" to easily identify your ride. See Travel tab for more information.
We have a room block at the Aloft Hotel in Playa del Carmen. Located directly on La Quinta Avenida, you'll be steps away from the city's best restaurants, bars, and beach clubs. Please visit the Travel tab of our website for booking details and more information. If you prefer a more relaxed, family-friendly experience, we recommend booking a stay in Playacar. This gated community offers a variety of villas and resorts, providing a quieter atmosphere with its own private beaches, dining, and entertainment.
Yes! We’ve reserved a block of rooms at the Aloft Playa del Carmen. You can find all the information on how to book your stay under the Travel tab of our website.
Playa del Carmen is very walkable, especially if you are staying at the Aloft or exploring Quinta Avenida. However, for travel between Playacar and downtown, we are partnering with a local taxi company to ensure our guests have safe, reliable, and fair-priced transport. Please contact MDM Transfer at +52 984-176-7867 on WhatsApp for all transportation needs. See Travel tab for more information.
While Uber technically exists in the area, we strongly discourage using it. Playacar does not allow Uber drivers past the security gates. Furthermore, due to local regulations and long-standing friction with taxi unions, Uber is generally unreliable and not recommended for tourists in this region. To ensure you get door-to-door service, please use our taxi partner: MDM Transfer at +52 984-176-7867 on WhatsApp.
Most restaurants and shops in Playa accept major credit cards, but its helpful to have Pesos for small purchases, street food, and tips. Pro Tip for Credit Cards: When paying by card, the terminal will often ask if you'd like to be charged in USD or Pesos. Always select Pesos. This allows your home bank to handle the currency conversion, which will save you significantly on exchange fees compared to using the local merchant's rate. Pro Tip for Cash: We recommend using an ATM located inside a major bank (Santander, BBVA) or exchanging currency at the airport upon arrival.
Formal attire with a beach twist! Dress in what makes you feel fabulous, and get ready for beautiful sunset photos and a night of dancing.
Children are welcome!
January is the sweet spot for the Riviera Maya! You can expect beautiful tropical weather with daytime highs around 80F/29C and comfortable evenings around 65F/18C. Since its the dry season, humidity is lower and rain is rare - but a light breeze off the ocean is common at night.
Yes! We will provide complimentary shuttles to and from the venue and the Aloft Hotel. For specific pickup times and additional logistics, please refer to the Travel tab on our website.
