They first met in person at a work event in Arizona in January 2020. Although it was a brief encounter. Their paths crossed again in September 2020 when Nicole was visiting a friend in Texas. Her friend invited Nathan to join them for dinner, and they spent the entire evening hanging out together at a Korean BBQ restaurant. That night was the beginning of their story, and they've been inseparable ever since. After that memorable evening, Nicole returned to Pennsylvania, but she continued to stay in touch with Nathan. They talked daily on the phone, texted, and FaceTimed. Their connection grew stronger with each passing day. In October 2020, Nathan came to Pennsylvania to support Nicole after she lost a close family member. During that visit, Nicole had the chance to show Nathan where she grew up, and it was a special trip for the both of them. On October 9, 2020, Nathan asked Nicole to be his girlfriend, and of course, she said yes.
Their relationship has been filled with significant milestones. After six months of dating, Nathan moved to Pennsylvania for a promotion at his job in Guest Services. Nicole decided to leave her job to go back to school and find a career in human resources. Nathan's passion for the waterpark industry led him back to the department. He grew to become the Director of Aquatics, while Nicole found a position at Kalahari working in HR and continued her studies. Despite all the changes and challenges, they always supported each other’s goals. They bought their home together in October 2021, and in January 2022 they got our first pet together, a yellow lab named Rosie. A few months later, in October 2022, they welcomed Rosie's sister, Daisy, into the family. Now, they have four fur babies who bring them immense joy and love.
Their trip to Peru in February 2024 was a memory of a lifetime. Nicole's mom is originally from Peru, and it was a special experience for Nicole to show Nathan her family's home country. They had planned to visit Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and Nathan had a surprise in store for Nicole. On the day of their trip to Machu Picchu, it started raining as they made their way up the steep paths. But as they reached the top, the rain stopped, and the sun emerged, revealing the breathtaking view. Nathan put his arm around Nicole, and in that beautiful moment, he reminded her of how their journey began at a Korean BBQ and led them to this incredible place three years later. Then, he got down on one knee, and Nicole froze, cried, and said yes! Nathan and Nicole are excited about their future together, looking forward to building their careers, living a healthy life, and starting a family. Whether they stay in Pennsylvania or end up back in Texas, they know they'll always be there for each other, supporting and loving one another every step of the way.
