We're getting married!

8.29.21

Welcome to our website! Keep checking in as the date gets closer for CoVID-related and general updates! At this time, based on regulations from the City of St. Paul, you will be required to wear a mask only when going inside to use the restroom. We understand that these are unprecedented and uncertain times and that making plans, especially to travel, is challenging right now. We’re going to do everything we can to keep our guests (and ourselves!) safe, and look forward to celebrating with you either in person or from afar! Thanks for visiting our site!

How we met

6.18.18

We met on OkCupid and immediately connected over both of our work with older adults and love of travel and being outdoors. We set up our first date at Marvel Bar, a speakeasy-style specialty cocktail bar along the Mississippi River. Anna wasn't sure about which door she was supposed to enter, since they were all unmarked, so she followed a tall, handsome stranger into the bar and he turned out to be her date! We bonded over our love of lesser-known fantasy books and vegan meatballs and extended the date with a walk along the river down to the Stone Arch Bridge. Little did Anna know, Alex had worn his nice shoes to impress her and his feet were killing him! But that didn't get in the way of the great conversation or plans to see each other again, and the rest is history! Anna has since used her years of shoe-selling experience to help Alex to find more comfortable shoes so they can continue taking long walks as they explore their neighborhood and the world together!

The Proposal

10.24.20

Anyone who knows Anna knows she absolutely loves Ava (our dog!) so I knew that she had to be involved some way for the proposal. Because of the pandemic, I went with a simple approach that involved having a custom dog tag made that said "Will you marry me?" I put the dog tag on Ava and kept the ring on me at all times waiting for Anna to see it. After several hours, I had to leave so I took the tag off Ava's collar so Anna wouldn't see it when I wasn't there. It went on like this for a full week, taking the tag on and off multiple times each day until finally she saw it. We were just taking off to go on a walk around the lake by our house and Ava and I were waiting outside for Anna to be ready. When she came outside, she saw that Ava had something on her collar and finally saw the inscription on the tag. I got down on one knee and thankfully she said yes!
