Andrew likes to tell the story that he knew who Alli was before they actually met. You see, Andrew works for a bank and Alli's dad's business is a customer of said bank. For years, a colleague would always mention, "You know, Brent Bernardi has a single daughter!" Andrew always had an eye out for Alli knowing full well they had an abundance of mutual friends. Fast forward a couple years and Alli moves back to Rockford after a four year stint in Dallas, TX. Both of them join Match.com and have a couple brief conversations before Alli deletes the app. Andrew started to think his efforts were futile until one day two years later... One evening in late April/early May 2019, Alli slides into Andrew's DMs after they match on a much more embarrassing dating app called Bumble. This time the conversation was much more natural (Andrew must have been practicing, as we all know Alli can talk to a brick wall) and they planned a date for a few days later. On Friday, May 3, 2019 Alli and Andrew finally meet in person and have a lovely first date at Greenfire. Andrew learned very quickly that Alli was very sociable like her father because a handful of people stopped by to say hi on their first date. Following some riveting conversation, good food and a few drinks, the pair headed outside to leave. Andrew walked Alli to her car and then hopped in the passenger seat so she could drive him around the building to his car. They ended up talking in her car for an hour and ended the night with a kiss. Twas the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
As everyone probably knows, Andrew and Alli share a common passion for golf, and their interest in each other began to blossom on their 3rd date. A round of golf at the Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Club. It was there that Andrew decided would be the perfect location to pop the question and chose the most beautiful spot on the course, the 15th tee-box. He chose Sunday, July 5th as Alli and Andrew shared a tee time with Alli's parents. There would be no better witnesses to the big proposal. Andrew had one big prayer prior to the round. Please Lord, let Alli golf well this one day! It was a hot July morning, and Alli teased Andrew about quitting after 9 holes and going to the pool instead, but decided to press on to the back 9. She was playing possibly her best 9 holes ever when the group reached the 15th tee. After punishing a drive down the fairway, she turned around to see Andrew with his hands behind his back, and two cell phones pointed at her to document the moment. Also in "attendance" was Andrew's bosses son providing the celebratory drinks. It was there that Alli said YES, and was too excited to finish the round. Andrew still takes credit for helping her "handicap" by asking the question and not finishing the round. The remainder of the day consisted of drinks and celebrating at the pool, surrounded by family and closest friends at the club.
