A New Orleans wedding reception is typically not a seated dinner. So, after cocktail hour, the buffet stations will open up. Apart from some exceptions, we'll have mostly open-seating. In true nola-style, the focus is on celebrating! The less time you all spend in your seats, the better :)
Yes! That's called a "second line", and we'll be doing a second line after our reception to make our way out to keep the party going!
The second line parade is a classic New Orleans tradition, and is performed for many kinds of celebrations. When you're talking about a wedding second line, the group parades through the streets in celebration of the new life the couple is about to embark on. The parade itself is composed of two parts: the first line and the second line. We (Bern and Hunter), together with the New Orleans brass band, are the first line. You - our families, friends, and loves ones - are the second line! We'll all walk, dance, and party to the rhythm of the brass band as we make our way down the parade route. NOTE: If you want to join the second line but have concerns about walking moderate distances (it'll be about half a mile) or maneuvering on uneven terrain (cobblestones are beautiful, but can be treacherous), please let us know! We'd be happy to arrange for you to join us on one of New Orleans many pedi-cabs :)
The dress code for our ceremony and reception is black tie. This means a black tuxedo, or a black or suit and tie for men, and floor-length formal gowns for women. Because we're doing a second line through the French Quarter following the reception, please consider comfortable footwear! Although New Orleans isn't known for cold weather, our reception will be outdoors. In the event of cooler weather (fingers crossed!), it may be a good idea to bring something to keep you warm!
Please RSVP by September 30, 2025. If your plans change after you submit your RSVP, please reach out to us and let us know so we can plan accordingly!
Here on our website :)
Whoever is included in your RSVP! We’d love to keep our celebration as intimate as possible, so we’re kindly asking that only those listed on your invitation or in your RSVP attend.
We'll be providing transportation from the Virgin Hotel (where we have our room block) to the church for the ceremony. No transportation from the ceremony to the reception is required as both events are taking place on the same property.
