Like many modern love stories, ours began with a swipe—thank you, Hinge! I (Bernadette) took the app’s not-so-subtle nudge and matched with Jon just before Thanksgiving 2019. After a few messages and a memorable first phone call, we met in person on December 1st. Our second date? A full day of magic at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland. I convinced Jon to brave the Guardians of the Galaxy ride (if you know, you know), and somewhere between laughter and adrenaline, we shared our first kiss while waiting in line. Things moved quickly in the best way. We made it official on December 21st. That Christmas, I met his family. On New Year’s, he met mine. Since then, we've supported each other through so many joyful moments and weathered some of life’s toughest challenges—always together, always stronger. We’ve built a beautiful life with our two beloved furbabies, Frida Mo and Mila Mae, who bring endless love (and noise) into our home. Then, on May 25, 2025, Jon proposed in the historic mining town of Bodie, CA, while we were camping with friends—surrounded by nature, love, and laughter.
