How We Met

I first met Bernadette in January of 2018 at a Young Adult Mass in Poughkeepsie, NY. From our first conversation, she had a dynamic, engaging personality that was unlike any I had met before. Whenever we talked, I was excited yet calm. It was not until she was unable to make one of our usual monthly meetups that June that I realized how much less vibrant my world was without her. I quickly asked her out to lunch, and on the hottest day of the summer, I fell for a girl in a watercolor sundress with her hair held back behind sunglasses. I promised her as soon as I got back from a trip to Florida, there would be a second date. To my surprise, she messaged me first to set up plans as I was on the long drive down to Orlando. She remains my favorite person to do anything and everything with. She is the calm to my storm, the voice of reason in my moments of doubt, and I cannot wait to celebrate the sacramental start of our life together, surrounded by our loved ones, on April 9th, 2021. ~Caleb We grew up in the same social circles without ever meeting. After graduating from college in NH, I came back to the Hudson Valley which we both call home. My good friend introduced us. I knew right away meeting Caleb that we would be friends. Our conversations were so easy and fun. From January to late June 2018 I would look forward to seeing him at that monthly event where we met. We also started going to Open Mics with mutual friends. Since dating Caleb, I have been consistently surprised by how easy it is to share life with him. Whether we are planning a meal, critiquing a show or taking a road trip, I have found life to be so much better with my Catholic artsy hipster. We are so excited to celebrate this adventure of marriage with all our friends and family in April 2021! Thanks goes of course to God that we are able to have our beautiful reception, and we are also so thankful especially to Grandma Ellen and Grandma Teresa for their generosity to us. ~Bernadette
