We like to play this game when we experience a moment that a camera would not do justice to capture. The goal is to list five things about the moment you would not notice in a picture. The more senses you incorporate, the better. On a separate note, Melissa's Grandma Trudy often used to call her "Little Miss Everything." When she told her Grandma that she was accepted to grad school, solo traveling in Europe, or walking to the grocery store, Grandma Trudy liked to respond, "Well, aren't you just Little Miss Everything!" As we cope with Grandma Trudy's declining acuity over the past couple of years, Melissa has held her classic lines and nicknames closer than ever to her heart.* In June 2024, Sam and Melissa were on a visit to Michigan. During a day trip to Ann Arbor, Sam asked Melissa to go for a walk in the Arb under the guise of looking for cool mushrooms. This is a common activity for us, and the mushrooms would be popping since it had rained the day before. As they rounded a bend to turn back, Melissa pointed out a violet-toothed polypore - the same type as the first mushroom Sam had ever taught her about on Cape Cod in March 2021. After pausing to take some pictures of the mushrooms, Sam asked Melissa to list her five things about the moment: #1 The sound of the wind moving the trees #2 The sunlight filtering through the leaves #3 A chipmunk darting by #4 The absence of other people #5 (From Sam) "I notice the feeling that I want to ask you to be my Little Mrs. Everything." *Melissa has since learned that she is not the only child/grandchild/child-in-law who gets called Little Miss Everything
