Snowbird Scenic Tram (Little Cottonwood Canyon)
Take the tram from The Snowbird Center to The Summit, where you can enjoy food, drinks, and the view. Option to take tram back down or hike down along the second half of the Hidden Peak loop.
Hidden Peak Hike at Snowbird (Little Cottonwood Canyon)
A moderate 7-mile loop that will take you from the Snowbird Center up to the Snowbird summit and back. Pro tips: Buy a scenic tram ticket to skip the uphill portion of the hike, or hike to the summit and catch a ride down on the tram for free!
Cecret Lake Hike (Little Cottonwood Canyon)
An easy 1.8mi out-and-back to a beautiful alpine lake near Alta ski area. Due to extremely limited parking access at Cecret Lake/Catherine's Pass Trailheads and to reduce congestion on the Summer Road and in the upper Albion Basin parking areas, it is highly recommended that hikers park in the Albion base area parking lot and hike the Upper Albion Meadows Trail.
Oktoberfest at Snowbird (Little Cottonwood Canyon)
Guten tag! Step into the Balvarian Alps with Snowbird's Oktoberfest. Complete with beer, pretzels, schnitzel, and the Schuhplattler, of course. Entry is free - beer is not, unfortunately.
Donut Falls Hike (Big Cottonwood Canyon)
A 3.4mi out-and-back hike that is great for anyone adjusting to the higher elevation - lower effort, but still a very beautiful reward!
Park City Main Street Historic District
A charming ski mountain town just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City with shops, galleries, dining, and historic Main Street. This mountain destination has been home to the Sundance Film Festival (RIP) and the Winter Olympics.
St. Regis at Deer Valley
Ride the Funicular up to the patio to enjoy drinks and light bites while taking in expansive views of Deer Valley Ski Resort - the same way Berkley took in many glasses of champagne at après-ski with Meredith Marks.
Living Room Lookout Trail (Foothills)
We spend many mornings and afternoons in the foothills. The Living Room Lookout is a 2.3mi out-and-back that will give you sweeping views of the city and our surrounding mountain ranges.
Ensign Peak Overlook (Foothills)
The closest we'll get to following Brigham Young - this 1mi out-and-back takes you to the peak where SLC was surveyed and planned. Needless to say, it provides incredible views of the valley. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Red Butte Garden
Enjoy the indoor exhibitions and take some easy (or more challenging) walks on pathways through the many beautiful outdoor gardens, complete with mountain and city views. If you belong to your local botanical garden, they may have reciprocity for your entry.
Natural History Museum of Utah
If you love learning about the natural history of the land, this is a wonderful museum. Located next to the Red Butte Garden, the Natural History Museum is nestled in the foothills above SLC and the architectural beauty of the building and surrounding views is worth a drive up just to see it. There is an admission fee. You can reserve tickets in advance.
9th and 9th neighborhood stroll
Explore our neighborhood! Take a walk along 900 S anywhere between S State St and 1100 E and enjoy a mix of coffee shops, restaurants, and vintage shopping. Don’t miss the 23-foot breaching humpback (slightly controversial) whale sculpture titled, Out of The Blue at 1100 E 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84105. Along that same strip, the East Liberty Tap House is a good place to grab a beer and burger. Try Dolcetti Gelato for funky décor and a sweet treat. For brunch or lunch you could try another favorite spot, the Park Café, which is across the street from Liberty Park and the Tracy Aviary, where the wedding welcome dinner will be held. That is a bit of a walk or a short drive.
15th and 15th neighborhood stroll
Are you catching on to Salt Lake's grid system yet? 15th and 15th is another walkable strip of shops and restaurants including The King’s English Bookshop, a locally owned, independent bookshop. Across the street are two of our favorite places to have brunch: Tulie Bakery or Caputo’s Market & Deli, as well as our favorite wine bar, Casot.
Central 9th Market
Our favorite place to grab breakfast or lunch. The line can get pretty long, so we recommend swinging by earlier vs. later, especially if you're on your way to explore the canyons!
