We'd known each other for three years through college. Romance didn't seem to be in the cards for us, we were simply friends. And then, on a day trip with our college choir to St. Louis, I had the sudden urge to hold my hand out to his. To my surprise, he took it. The whole day, through the zoo, the museum, the mall, and finally the performance of Phantom of the Opera at the Fox Theater, we held hands. After all this time, neither of us can explain what changed that day. All we can think of is that God was at work. Nearly two years later, we were performing the duet "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera. At the very end, Craig got down on one knee and pulled out a ring, in front of God and an awestruck audience. I couldn't even finish singing because I started tearing up. When the audience realized it was real (apparently the majority thought it was part of the performance) they started cheering. When they saw me nod "yes" (I couldn't talk) they cheered even louder. Or so I was told. I couldn't really see or hear anything other than the man I love kneeling in front of me. It was like something out of a romance novel. Though life has thrown many stones at us already, we will always face everything and anything together, hand in hand.
