Our first "official" date was probably the cheesiest. "Do you want cheese on your pasta?" says the waiter from Olive Garden as we spent most of the night laughing and even making jokes (which were half-meant) saying in five years, if we were both still single, we would get married. Both of our oddities and everything that comes with, became the missing pieces of each other's puzzle that we both have been searching for. Throughout the course of the relationship, we found each other to be a travel buddy, a crying shoulder, a tutor, a career counselor, a best friend, and true love. Almost 6 years later, we may be a little late on that promise but we intend to be true to what is one of the most important chapters in our great love story. The islands of Hawaii are very dear to us. We fell in love with each other more as the serene nature made us forget our busy lives and focus on each other. We would love to stay if we could, as the islands reminded us of both the Philippines and Mexico. Hawaii is the perfect marriage of both Filipino and Mexican culture in so many ways and will be perfect background for one “Pinoy” and “Latina” to be as one. As we eagerly await our wedding day, we are nervous, but ultimately ecstatic and grateful that you can all come join the realization of the promise that we once made to each other.
