Things To Do

Here are a few of Amy's favourite places to go in Edinburgh (plus a few more spots up north!)
Edinburgh Zoo

Edinburgh Zoo

134 Corstorphine Road, Corstorphine, Scotland EH12 6TS, United Kingdom

Amy's childhood favourite! Just s short bus ride out the city center, and a great zoo!

National Museum of Scotland

National Museum of Scotland

Chambers Street, Scotland EH1 1JF, United Kingdom

Free entry, interesting exhibits, and a pretty main hall. This is a great spot to wander and enjoy the quiet!

Arthur's Seat

Arthur's Seat

Scotland EH15 3PY, United Kingdom

Arthur's seat is an ancient volcano and popular hiking spot at the foot of the Royal Mile. Check your route ahead of time, wear sensible shoes and absolutely avoid at night time (there are some dangerous drops)

Italian on the Mound

Italian on the Mound

15 Bank Street, Scotland EH1 2LN, United Kingdom

Amy used to go here all the time when she was at university, and it's Jared's favourite sandwich shop in the UK (high praise). Aside from their great sandwiches, they also serve other Italian snacks, lunches and baked goods.

W Armstrong & Son Vintage

W Armstrong & Son Vintage

81-83 Grassmarket, Scotland EH1 2HJ, United Kingdom

Thrifting in Edinburgh can be fun, and this store is a treasure trove! Tweed, vintage dresses, costume jewelary, top hats, ... There are a few locations around the city, but I like the Grassmarket location best (Check out the fossil shop next door!)

The Red Door Gallery

The Red Door Gallery

42 Victoria Street, Scotland EH1 2JW, United Kingdom

My favourite place to pick up local art, stationary and gifts when I'm in town!

Old Military Road

Old Military Road

Old Military Road, Braemar, Scotland, United Kingdom

Jared and I loved driving down this road in Summer 2023! Do your research, drive slowly, and enjoy the views!

Achmelvich Bay

Achmelvich Bay

Scotland IV27 4JB, United Kingdom

White sand... blue water..... and sheep? I guess we're still in Scotland after all. Amy went here as a child and plans to visit again with Jared this year! Fancy a trip up north?

Cairngorms Activities: Gorge Walking

Cairngorms Activities: Gorge Walking

Scotland PH26 3NT, United Kingdom

Amy and Jared went on a gorge walk with them in 2023 and had a GREAT time! There are other places to go and do this, but this is the one we went to. Be prepared to walk up a gorge up to your chest in water, and be coached on how to scramble up and slide down mini-falls! Wear strong-soled shoes that you are okay with being fully submerged in water.

For all the days along the way
