Height of Land
The most special place for John and Marissa. Where the two got engaged, and continue to go and marvel at God's creation and reflect, to ground themselves of continuation of the life they are building. This commute as well as the view is spectacular, easy to drive-in and drive-out. There are many pull-outs as well for scenic overlooks on the way to Height of the Land driving from route 16 in Oquossoc, that you don't want to miss! Perfect for a Sunday drive!
Angel Falls
THIS IS A 1.1 MILE HIKE ACROSS SMALL STREAMS + ROCKS, please take note! Here is the best explanation of how to access: From Oquossoc, take ME-17 south for 3.7 miles. Turn right on to Herbie Welch Road (across from South Shore Drive). Go almost a mile to a four-way intersection. Turn left onto Bemis Road. Drive about 11 miles south on Bemis Road. This is a gravel road that can have rough spots, use caution. Look for a road going sharply right and downhill (44.7902, -70.7079) and follow it into an old gravel pit (large boulder with graffiti), and park.
Smalls Falls Rest Area and Trailhead
Driving Route 4 from Farmington to Rangeley, you will pass the trailhead on your LEFT for Smalls Falls! Picnic area, easy trails and accessible walkways for sights of a beautiful waterfall
Quill Hill
360 degree views of Western Maine, complete with picnic tables for lunch if you so choose! Be mindful: it tends to be windy at the top, bring a jacket!
Moose Alley
Bowling Alley, bar, and live music on the weekends! Fun place for kids of all ages. Billiards, darts, foosball and more.
Sarge's Sports Pub & Grub
A newly renovated, fun atmosphere for lunch, dinner, or drinks with friends. This is home of snowmobilers, ski bums, fisherman, and townsfolk alike. John and Marissa have spent NYE here celebrating a champagne toast with strangers, as well as many a night of take-out nachos and pizza when Marissa lived in Rangeley!
