We first crossed paths in Georgetown in 2017. Lydia was an intern in DC, waiting for an Uber outside a bar, when she casually mentioned to her friend that the place reminded her of TDX. Benji, who happened to be walking in, overheard and couldn’t resist asking, “What school do you go to?” When she replied, “Dartmouth,” the conversation flowed easily, and by the end of the night, we exchanged numbers. The very next day, we met up in Adams Morgan—coincidentally, the neighborhood where we now live. What followed was a whirlwind of long-distance meetups between Boston and NYC during Lydia’s senior year. After Lydia graduated, we stayed in touch from afar as Benji bounced between coasts for work. Whenever he was back in DC visiting his parents, Benji would invite Lydia to the boat club, the very place where we’ll soon say, “I do.” It wasn’t until the timing was just right that Lydia said yes to Benji’s persistence, and shortly after, he moved back to the area. From then on, our story has been about finding a home in each other and building a life together.
