Since the wedding will be held on Friday, we recommend getting in on Thursday. You can come even earlier if you'd like and make it a vacation! We’d recommend flying into Norfolk International Airport in Virginia as it’s the closest airport to the Outer Banks, about a 2-hour drive. You can choose to fly into Raleigh-Durham International Airport if you’d prefer but please note it’s a 4-drive to the Outer Banks.
Unfortunately, there are limited hotel options in the area and the hotels do not have wedding blocks. We recommend getting together with family or friends to rent a vacation home! Please see our "Travel & Accommodation" tab for our recommendations. Remember to keep your search in the town of Corolla.
Both the ceremony and reception are taking place at our beach house, Lighthouse Twelve. It's an oceanfront house in the town of Corolla. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be on the beach, and cocktail hour and the reception will be held outdoors on the lawn.
Parking is limited at the house and will be reserved for vendors. There is parking available at the Bonito Street Public Parking lot, which is two blocks away from Lighthouse Twelve. You can also look into Uber, if that's available.
Semi-formal, cocktail attire. We want you to be comfortable though — if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it loose! It is the beach after all.
While we adore your kids, the wedding ceremony and reception will be an adults-only celebration. Enjoy parent's night out! We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving your kids at home so you can celebrate with us.
The weather on the Outer Banks in October is ideal: mild during the day, with cool, comfortable nights. The average high temperature in October is 72°, and the average low is 58°.
One of the wonderful things about going to the beach and being on vacation is that there's no specific plan/schedule (besides the wedding day)! If you'd like to fill your time with activities such as hang gliding, fishing, or kayaking, go for it! If you'd rather spend your time at the beach, go for it. This time in the Outer Banks is a chance for all of us to rest, play, and connect.
