Due to recent events, we found ourselves reflecting on all aspects of our wedding day. Part of our dream is to have all of our loved ones present to celebrate with us and we cannot do that during this time of unexpected events, when we may be putting each other's health at risk. It is because of this that we are announcing the reschedule of our wedding. We hope and pray that this pandemic will be over by next summer and that you will be ready to celebrate with us then!
As most of you already know, we grew up in North Dakota about 45 minutes apart, but we didn't meet until we both moved to Minneapolis. While working at Merrill Lynch there were Complex meetings once a month at the downtown office, one day Ben walked in with the other new brokers and a colleague insisted that we meet since we were "both from North Dakota so we must know each other"....ND isn't quite that small. I said "hi" and went back to working, but my former roommate (shoutout to Jessica Olinger) got to work organizing happy hours and made sure to invite the guys from the Wayzata office. We met, realized we did have a few mutual friends (ok, maybe ND is that small), and the rest is history.
Ben has been coaching youth hockey for a few years and it consumes most of his time October through March, so he thought it would be a good idea to plan a trip after the season (and before golf season starts, of course). We decided on Italy and surprisingly he did a lot of the planning! Our first stop was the island of Capri, day one included a lot of hiking, exploring, and gelato. The plan for day two was to take a private Gozzo boat around the island, but the weather was a bit rainy and the swells were high so there was a chance we wouldn't be able to go. Ben was in touch with them often, which was impressive, because again, he's not much of a planner. Early the next morning we received the good news that not only was it going to be sunny but the tide was low enough to see all the main sites. Just over half way around the island after exploring the Blue Grotto and many other caves/inlets, we approached the Faraglioni rock formation...Ben said "I love you" and the captain popped the champagne!
