We hope you can join us in celebrating our special day.
My Christmas gift from Ben this year was a romantic date together at the London Chop House in downtown Detroit. We had reservations at 6:00 p.m and his parents and sister, Rachel were our chaperones for the evening. While driving, I noticed this beautiful Christmas lights display and a big Christmas tree just a couple of blocks from the restaurant. Ben suggested that we walk to it after the meal. The restaurant was gorgeous, and the atmosphere was so romantic and warm; everyone seemed to melt into the background while we enjoyed our meal together. At the end of dinner, we were surprised to find that our bill had been paid by an anonymous gentleman who saw us, thought we were a cute couple, and covered our bill. It was an amazing addition to our evening. Before walking to the Christmas tree, Ben went to the restroom and came back with an ugly green tie. If you know anything about the Hallmark series Signed, Sealed, Delivered, then you know exactly what that means. I froze as soon as I noticed the tie, but tried holding back my shock while we went over to the tree. It was lightly snowing, cold, and the air was filled with anticipation as we walked over to the tree. I hadn’t even noticed my shoes had soaked through from the icy slush. When we got to the tree, his parents and sister stepped back and Ben got down on one knee. He said, “Don’t look at my tie, look at my eyes and listen to my heart. Marry me, and I will love you forever, and I promise to never wear this tie again. Will you marry me?” I was laughing and crying, and could barely utter an excited “yes.” Evidently, there was a crowd of people watching and cheering for us, and, to my surprise, the rest of his family was also there to watch our proposal. This truly was the best Christmas ever. I can’t wait to marry my best friend, and we appreciate each and every person who can celebrate with us.
