VINS is a great spot for all ages! Rescue birds of prey are on display, education center talks, live demonstrations with birds, walking trails and exhibits. There's also a canopy walk in the trees that takes you several stories off the ground as well as a webbed net you can crawl into to get a better view of the tree canopy above. Pack a picnic, there really isn't any food there to purchase other than popsicles and water.
We love this museum! It's definitely kiddo focused but also has lots for adults. There's an outdoor water feature you can dip your feet in, walking trails where you can take in wild life and natural benches built in along the trails to enjoy a picnic in the summer shade.
This is a great place to take in the view of the gorge from the bridge or hike down into it and go swimming. Bring your trunks, towel and walking shoes!
Home of Dartmouth college and a really lovely downtown shopping district. There's a some great shops to explore as well as restaurants to dine at.
You can watch live glass blowing all powered by a hydroelectric damn on the Ottoquechee River. One of the nicer dining establishments in the area that needs a reservation well in advance to get into. We recommend booking asap if you want to do a lunch or dinner there. The chefs are all really amazing and make great food. Shhh... we used to bring over donuts to trade for food when we were slinging donuts in the building next door. Nothing but fond memories from this place for us! It's also right next door to Whistle Pig Whiskey Tasting Room. :)
Billings Farm & Museum is home of Ben's sunflower house (which will be in peak bloom for the wedding) as well as a chefs garden designed by Ben, cows, sheep, chickens a museum and gorgeous grounds to wander. A great way to be immersed in Vermont history, agriculture and stunning gardens.
Historic downtown Woodstock is home to some great shopping, art galleries, food, the Ottoquechee river and one of Vermonts famed covered bridges. Great place to roam, pack a picnic to enjoy by the river or on the green in the center of town.
Plymouth, VT is a quaint town 20 minutes from Woodstock. While it's the birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, it's also home of the oldest cheddar cheese making facility in the United States! You can see their cheese being made as well have a tasting or two.
Next to Simon Pearce in Quechee, this tasting room is right upstairs from our old donut shop! Stop by for a tasting of whiskey that is made right here in Vermont. Also, tell Meg we miss her and will always trade our donuts for their whiskey. Our browned butter boozy banana glaze wouldn't be the same without a healthy poor of Whistle Pig Whiskey in it. :)
