Faidley's is a true Baltimore institution. They say they have Baltimore's best crabcake, but that's not why you should go there (it's hard to find a bad crabcake in Baltimore). Faidley's is located within Lexington Market, the oldest market in the United States--founded in 1782 at the site where it still stands today. In a city marked by segregation (de jure and de facto), Lexington Market is a rare place where people from all backgrounds and walks of life have come for generations to buy and sell goods, produce, and food. Tips for visiting Faidley's: Go for lunch! The market closes at 5pm. They're going to ask if you want it fried or broiled. I recommend broiled. If you're inclined, I recommend getting raw oysters from the stand next to Faidley's. If you're getting a beer with your crabcake it really should be a Natty Boh. Afterwards, walk around the market and be sure to stop for a Berger Cookie. Note that there's no seating here (standing bar tops only).
Sound familiar? This museum is the venue for our wedding! The American Visionary Art Museum is my all time favorite museum and my number one recommendation for visitors to Baltimore who love art--and one of the places Ben and I went to the first time he visited Baltimore. All the wedding festivities will be held in the Jim Rouse building--meaning that guests should plan to visit the main museum separate from our wedding, if they want to tour the whole museum. Important note: We have a special admissions rate between March 4-6! If you do visit the main museum be sure to mention the Battista-Coogan wedding to get the special rate.
