We are getting married!

We met but we did not realize what the future held. We were both in different relationships in October 2017 and running the Long Beach Marathon and we exchanged phone numbers. We both worked for Whole Foods and Ben wanted to come work at the store that Heidi would be leaving. Fast forward, a few years to January 2020 and both Heidi and Ben were single and Heidi was on a solo trip and their mutual friend Anthony Fagundes said that they should hang out, go for a run and grab dinner. In late February, they had close friends running the Olympic Marathon trials in Atlanta and just had the best weekend with friends running, celebrating running and by the end of this weekend, we were dating. We had all these grand plans for 2020 but each month went by and we saw things get cancelled but putting a strong effort into dating long distance. In this time, Heidi's job with Whole Foods Market opened up at the Flagstaff location and eventually in late August 2020, we co-located in Flagstaff, AZ. In January 2022, we purchased a home together and have continued our running adventures in France, Italy and all over the west coast. After five years of ultra qualifiers for the Western States 100, Ben finally got in for the 2023 race and at that point he determined that this would be the perfect place to propose for Heidi (and also a good motivation to finish). As we wound down the hill to Placer High and passed mile 99, Ben's pacer, Cody Logan, slipped the ring on his pinkie finger. At the finish, Ben got down on one knee and Heidi said yes after a long day of crewing, and to everyone's surprise he did get back up.
