We met at a bar. Now it's up for debate who saw whom first. Zach contends it was he who saw Benita through the window of Blondie's, redirected his aimless friends, and pronounced "I am talking to HER." Benita counters that it was she who initiated contact with the bashful group of guys, and that without her assertiveness we would not be writing this story. Whoever you believe (you should believe me, because I'm right), what is not up for debate is that Zach and Benita left San Francisco that night with two things: first, regret over some extra-corny dad jokes (they can't all be home runs); and second, the feeling they had just met someone who would change their lives. When we meet in San Francisco for our wedding ceremony this Spring, it will mark seven years to the day that we saw each other for the first time and instantly knew we had something special. A lot has happened in seven years: long-distance FaceTimes from Germany to California, plane rides... lots of plane rides, a long deployment, Thailand (if you know you know), the American immigration system (during COVID-19 no less!), moves across the world, moves to a tiny town in the desert, new careers, and of course Rufus. None of these things would have been possible -- we would not have been possible -- without all of your love and support. We wanted to keep this ceremony small, to bring together a unique, intercontinental group of people who mean the world to us and who will be in our lives forever. Can't wait to see you in the City!
