Question

What can I expect from an Orthodox Christian wedding ceremony?

Answer

An Orthodox wedding ceremony may be different from what you're used to. The ceremony itself may seem to be a little long (it will likely last between 45 minutes and 1 hour), and it is traditional to stand for the duration. However, the most important thing to us is having you witness as we partake in this sacrament. We invite you to participate to the degree you feel comfortable and to take your cues from your body as to when you need to sit.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Ample street parking is available outside St. John Orthodox Church on Tutwiler and Dickinson. For the reception, the Memphis Zoo parking lot is open (for no charge) to all wedding guests.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Children are welcome to attend the ceremony and the cocktail hour just following at St. John Orthodox Church. The reception at the Memphis Zoo is adults-only (by invitation).
