Ben and I met in college; but it's not your typical "we had a class together" story. It was the last semester of our senior year. I was with my friend Priya in a study room in the library. We were minding our own business, studying like people do in the library (and maybe making spring break plans to go to NY :P ) when Ben and his friend came in and asked us to take a survey for their Experimental Psych class. Little did we know, this was part of a whole little scheme!! Ben and his friend were looking for something to do after a weeknight lax game and somehow came up with the idea to go pick up on girls. Whittier is a small school, sometimes you have to get creative! He decided they couldn't just go knocking on people's dorm room doors, they should go meet some "wholesome chicks" as he puts it. - in the library! But they couldn't just go in and hit on girls straight up, they needed a plan. Hence, the survey! Ben never took Experimental Psych and completely made up this silly survey. Priya and I quickly figured this out as we began taking it because it went something like this: do you like pepsi or coke? dogs or cats? walks on the beach or bike rides? dvd dates at home or the cinema? lacross players or football players? (Ben is a diehard lax player for those of you that don't know!) how about a date with 2 strapping young men? The boys then came back to collect our surveys and "analyze our answers." Needless to say, I found it amusing. We went on our first date a few weeks later, which is a whole other story. lol After that we only had a few months of school left, but by the end we decided it was something worth doing long distance, as I was moving back to Reedley and Ben was staying in SoCal. We did that for FIVE years. I moved back down to SoCal in 2014, and in the summer of 2015 Ben secretly drove up to Reedley for lunch with my whole family and told them he wanted to ask me to marry him! I never knew a thing until he proposed on October 3, 2015!
