Hobart is one of those places that really doesn't get the credit it deserves. A one hour flight from Melbourne lands you in one of our favorite places in Australia. A visit to the city only requires a couple of days as it's a rather small city. There are some non-negotiable things you should do, including a visit to MONA and a dinner at Franklin, but the rest of your time will likely be a bit of a wandering adventure as you check out the local breweries, bars, restaurants, and just get a feel for this small harbor town. Check out our guide to Hobart on Ben and Talia Go Places.
Even though Melbourne is better than Sydney, if it's your first time Down Under, it's worth a visit. Here are a couple of quick tips for Sydney: -The Opera House. You'll obviously go see this because you need it for the 'gram. If you want the view from within the bay, instead of taking an expensive (and probably boring) tour, just grab a ferry to Manly Beach. It costs a couple bucks, goes right past the Opera House, and lands you in a new part of town where you can grab lunch and wander for a bit. -Walk from Coogee to Bondi. It's about a 4 mile walk along the coast that is nothing short of stunning. -King's Cross is the shady part of town, but it's sort of fun to wander for a bit. It's close to Darlinghurst which has some good non-touristic bars and restaurants. -Eat a meat pie. Harry's Cafe De Wheels was Ben's favorite. -Enjoy some drinks. Favorites from our last trip: Love, Tilly Devine (wine and snacks), Grandma's (basement tiki bar), Papa Gedes (not in a basement tiki bar).
Want to hold a koala? Go to the Gold Coast and visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Want to soak up the sun, snorkel the Great Barrier Reef and visit a Rainforest? Head up north to Port Douglas. Want luxury? Sail the Whitsundays on a yacht.
Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a massive sandstone monolith in the heart of the Northern Territory’s arid "Red Centre". The nearest large town is Alice Springs, 450km away. Uluru is sacred to indigenous Australians and is thought to have started forming around 550 million years ago.
Fly to Brisbane and drive south for 2 hrs to find the weed capital of Australia. Also they have nice beaches.
This is actually a different country, but it's also cool.
