We met at Camp Treetops when Pippa was 9 and Ben was 10. Over 3 years together at camp, we went on a few canoe trips, were a "camp couple" for a week or so, and Pippa broke up with Ben because holding hands was overwhelming. We caught up over the web every now and then over the years, but reunited for good in September 2017 (thanks to some encouragement from Ben's sister Sarah!). Today, we live in Germantown, NY and run Quittner Antiques, an antique store and furniture restoration shop.
Given that we live in New York, and both of our families live in New York, you may be asking, "Why Delaware?" Well, Pippa has deep roots in Delaware. Our ceremony will be at Christ Church, the Episcopal Church where her parents were married, and where many generations of her maternal family have been buried. Our reception will be just a few blocks away at The Ridgely House, a home built by Pippa's family in the 1720s and now lovingly tended by Ann Baker Horsey. You'll be able to explore the bottom floor of the house, and we'll be celebrating in the Gardens, originally planted by Mabel Lloyd Ridgely in the 1920s. If you're a history buff, you might enjoy knowing that the Delaware Constitution was signed right next door at The Golden Fleece, and that Ceasar Rodney, Continental Congressman, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and President of Delaware during the American Revolution, grew up in the Ridgely House as a ward of the family. We both love Historic Dover, and we hope you will too.
We don't want to cramp your style, but here are a few tips: • Garden-friendly shoes are highly recommended, as there will be a lot of grass and gravel. • Hats are encouraged. (How often do you get to don a nice hat? We say, "not often enough!" Don't be afraid to ask if you need some inspiration)
