We met online, which everyone knows can be a minefield of bad dates. But right away we both saw that our first date would be different. We met at a wine bar the day after Thanksgiving. The spark was immediate. We opened up about the most personal details of our lives, feeling a sense of trust. Then Molly asked if she could come to sit next to Ben and give him a kiss. She wanted to see if a romantic spark was there too, and it was. Although it took a little while for each of us to say "I love you," deep down we really knew on our first date.
Christmas Eve is the perfect time for a proposal. It was our first time hosting company together. After everything was cleaned up, Molly was tired and wanted to go to bed. But Ben insisted on opening at least one gift. He presented Molly with a gift bag. First there was Tupperware. What! So unromantic! Next there was an ornament, as last Christmas Ben gave Molly an ornament for our first Christmas together. Dig deeper! At the bottom was a jewelry box. As Molly opened it, Ben got down on one knee and spoke from his heart. We each had met our soulmate and could not imagine doing anything other than living the rest of our lives together.
