FAQs

Question

How do we get to Rocky Mountain National Park?

Answer

We will help coordinate carpools to the park. Don't worry if you are not planning to rent a car on this trip. We will also provide every car with the Wedding Ceremony Permit and cash for the park entrance fee. We are allowed a maximum of 10 vehicles in the Lily Lake parking area, so we will help coordinate carpools and make sure everyone has a transportation plan.

Question

How long is the trip from Boulder to the National Park?

Answer

The drive takes about one hour and fifteen minutes from Boulder to Lily Lake. We recommend stopping in Estes Park or the RMNP Visitor Center to use the restrooms before entering the park. There will be a basic toilet at the Lily Lake area. The ceremony and reception will end by noon, and the afternoon is free to enjoy the trails, explore the town of Estes Park, and drive back to Boulder for dinner.

Question

What do I wear to the mountains and to dinner?

Answer

Attire is dressy casual/cocktail. Please feel free to dress up, but make sure you are comfortable for an outdoor ceremony. We suggest bringing a change of clothes and/or shoes if you would like to explore RMNP or Estes Park in the afternoon, as well as a jacket, sunglasses, and hat or cap. Dinner will be later in the day after we've all driven back to Boulder, so feel free to wear the same clothes that you wore to the ceremony, or change into another dressy casual/cocktail outfit.

Question

What about the elevation?

Answer

If you're not accustomed to 5,000+ feet of elevation, it can sometimes cause fatigue and headaches. Make sure to stay hydrated before, during, and after the wedding weekend, and bring painkillers like ibuprofen just in case. For the weather, don't forget to bring light layers and a rain jacket.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Head to the "Travel" tab for a few suggested hotels. We recommend staying in or close to Boulder.
