Ben and Layne met at the North Bend Bakery where Layne worked in late March 2021. Ben came to the bakery daily for his ham and cheese croissant, but that wasn't the only reason he kept coming back. On April Fool's Day, when Ben had finally mustered up the courage to ask Layne out, the universe intervened. Unprompted and unasked Layne walked up to Ben and handed him her number while taking a phone call about a wedding cake. The rest is history as two days later Ben and Layne went on their first date and have been inseparable since.
