Kendra and Ben met the only way anyone was meeting in the early days of Covid: through an online dating app. Ben was living in Pittsburgh, and Kendra in Boardman, Ohio, some 70 miles away. Kendra, being an exceptionally beautiful woman on a dating app, had just about reached her limit of bros holding fish they’d caught, and decided it was time to delete her profile. Just in the nick of time, a suave, handsome, and utterly irresistible rogue sent her a message so deft – so unimaginably imaginative - that any attempt to recreate it here would be horribly deficient by comparison. The connection was immediate, and Kendra and Ben spent many days eagerly checking their messages for the next communication before ultimately deciding to have a FaceTime “date.” One month later, Kendra drove to Pittsburgh to confirm that Ben was not a catfish. They took one very romantic walk through a nearby cemetery, and the rest is history.
In August 2021, Ben (the sneaky romantic that he is) prepared Kendra for dinner at their favorite date-night spot, with plans to leave in the morning to visit his friend, Brian, in Cincinnati. It was all a goof! Ben had come up with the ruse to get Kendra to pack an overnight bag for the weekend. Kendra knew something was up because Ben had planned a date night more than 2 weeks in advance, and packed a bag multiple days before "the trip." After taking Kendra to a park where they'd often sat and read during quarantine, Ben told Kendra, "I don't think we should go to Cincinnati this weekend." When asked why, Ben responded, "Because we'll want to celebrate," and dropped to one knee, causing the Earth to perceptibly shudder. They both immediately blacked out for the next 10 minutes and are extremely thankful Kendra's sisters were secretly stationed on location to take pictures and capture the moment. They went and celebrated with their immediate families, then spent a lovely weekend at Hotel Monaco getting a jump on the planning.
